What is Career Counseling?
Career Counseling is a process in which individuals explore where they are at in their career path or job search and develop a plan to achieve their objectives. This might include examining their interests, aspirations, values, marketable skills. It also might mean generating ideas and leads for how to start.
Career Counseling is not an interaction where the Counselor chooses your "perfect" career. Footwork from the client is essential for a successful partnership.

What Does Your Career Path Look Like?
Most people believe they should have a plan for their career and go from Point A to Point B but reality bears out that most career paths are circuitous.
We start in one direction then take a turn or two, sometimes a u-turn and we end up in an entirely different but not necessarily bad place than how we started.
This is a GOOD THING. Being open to opportunities, knowing yourself, being willing to not only take a few risks but also allowing yourself to change your mind if things don't work out takes the pressure off of perfectly defining that straight path.
